Thanks for the comments, folks. I think we are sadly lacking in diplomacy these days. To qualify for leadership in the world, diplomacy should be a necessary requirement. A "My way or the highway" approach isn't working, is it?

i agree too.can't wait till '08 then maybe things will get turned around.the vice president is worse than bush.cheney has got some pretty extreme ideas.put em both together and things get scary.bill clinton is the man! maybe hillary will get it in'08

Used to be a country and western song a long time ago, "If loving you is wrong I don't want to be right". Well, I'd one hell of a lot rather be wrong if wrong means I'm against what this prez has been doing and this Congress has been allowing him to do without impeaching him, than be right. I just posted a long comment on Todd's blog. It isn't as colorfully written as yours, but agrees with you that times are changing. I think people are getting sick of hearing that they are "bad" Americans because they disapprove of the way things are being run. When did protest become bad? When did the separation of church and state become un-Patriotic? I can't think of a single time I told a Bush supporter that I disapproved of the war or something the President is doing and wasn't put down for being a Communist, a Liberal or member of some other anti-American group. What I think has happened is that Americans like good sons & daughters wanted strong leadership like a good parent. But being an arrogant & independent group or people, we started to grow tired of all the curfews and time-outs in the corner and when we didn't eat all our peas, still wanted to have dessert....
