I guess that's the difference between a normal, loving father and someone who can't control his anger. I realize that we all have anxiety. I have my own little fits when I'm in a lot of pain. But I also can't imagine taking a child and banging her head into a wall. They showed a simulation on the news, explaining that the chest wall of an infant is much more flexible than ours, since it is still growing. So it takes much more force to break the ribs of a baby than an adult. They said he must have hit her over and over again with such force that it was worse than if she had been in a bad car accident. They also said there were older scars from prior beatings. So why was she returned to the parents???... [ More ]

<br />He's not making excuses, Nancy...that's a sad fact. Almost every story like this was precipitated by a baby that wouldn't stop crying. When my children did this, and all the usual solutions failed, I would take them on a car ride even if it was the middle of the night. It always settled them down and got them back to sleep.
