The mini vegetable garden.

I read articles before about planting things in Hay bales. Just seen one recently about using straw bales as straw does not have seed in it like hay bales do.

That got me to thinking. I usually every year buy leaf bags and use my mulcher mower to chip up the leaves before bagging. I usually get about 6 to 9 bags every wear. Well says I. I will mulch and bag the leaves and place the bag in a holding container made of chicken wire and the holding bin made of furring strips placed further enough apart to hold the bag keeping the bin about 4 inches off the ground. After I place the bag in the holding container I will cut out the top portion of the bag for planting and jab a few small slice holes in the bag on the sides and bottom to let out excess water. When I plant the seeds and transplants I will use some potting soil and top soil mix placed where I put the seeds and transplants.

Leaves do not contain seeds as the lawn grass does not go to seed as far as I know.

See how that works.

... [ More ]
