No Green Card, No Insurance, No Problem!

Handing out driver s licenses to illegal aliens will make the roads safer because they will be more likely to carry insurance when the drive, right? Wrong. In fact, despite issuing 650,000 California driver s licenses to illegal aliens in 2015 at a cost to taxpayers of $141 million fewer than 12,000 new insurance policies were purchased. It is not clear how many of these policies were sold to illegal aliens or how many were purchased by other drivers, during the same period. Some newly licensed illegal aliens may have bought policies privately, but California does not keep records of such purchases, even though the data could easily be collected. Feel safer now?

New Mexico is another state that has issued driver s licenses to illegal aliens, yet it has the highest percentage of uninsured drivers on its roads in the nation.

Clearly, people who have shown a general willingness to violate federal law and contempt for American justice just aren t willing to shell out their own money for auto insurance.
