Yes, the series is over. I believe it ended last year after 6 seasons. They just had the marathon last week but keep a watch on the PBS website to see if they will repeat. I just checked and there are a couple of episodes airing tonight but it looks like it's from Season 5. Best to wait until it starts from the beginning otherwise you won't know what's going on. And you won't want to miss an episode once you start

I've never watched Downtown Abbey before. I thought that they had ended the series on BBC. Is PBS running the show in syndication ?

Okay,okay..I admit I'm late to the game,dahling.

For the past couple of years or so I've heard about Downton Abbey.... but a historical drama? Not really my cup of tea. Boy,was I wrong.

When I noticed that PBS was playing the whole series last week I thought, ah, what the heck, let's give it a look.

My look turned into a stare.

I couldn't stop watching! From the first pulsating scene with that theme song I was hooked. This is something special , I thought. And couldn't tear my eyes from the screen.

Got about half way through before I got tired of all the telethon breaks on that channel so I just ordered it on DVD so I can watch it in one flowing sweep.

I feel I haven't really seen it yet because I put the close captioning on to not miss any words. Some of the accents are thick and when they speak fast it's sometimes difficult to catch every word. It's been such a pleasure to read. The sentences are so poetic.

Oh,parting will be such sweet sorrow when I'm finished watching it. I know I will watch it again. And again. It is probably one of the most brilliant pieces I've ever seen in my life. (And that's a lot of tv and movies, I can tell you! Big buff here :) The emotions it evokes...wow. I felt I was on the verge of tears during every episode.

For the first time in my life, it makes me want to don a corset.

And run right into the screen with that haunting song playing behind me.
