Very hard to know if this was bigotry or just some cops being nice and giving these guys a break. Nobody can call me a bigot (they can but it's not true!) because I marched for civil rights all through high school and college. One of my few close friends is Black. But everyone today is so paranoid about being politically correct. If these men threw garbage out the window of their car, then they should have been fined, but they weren't. Sounds as if they got lucky. Yes, it's very racist to ask 2 Black men to perform rap, but if they were chatting & laughing about football afterwards, it just doesn't sound like a hateful situation to me. If a cop stops me for speeding today and offers to waive a $200 fine if I recite a poem, I'll do it and do a little dance for him too. (if he kissed me or asked me for oral sex, that would be entirely different) Yes, it would still be embarrassing and perhaps ethically wrong. But I'm not sure every idiotic thing law enforcement does is based on prejudice -- just ignorance, ego and stupidity.... [ More ]
