The only change I would make would be to add daily ambush interviews of the members of the California legislature, pounding them with questions like, "are you sad about hitting the 400-murder mark earlier than last year?" and, "are you kicking yourself over mistakes you made?" Then to publish that trash in the front-page stories. They would also have a countdown clock of murders on the front page.
