<br />A few yrs. back our resident Marxist was assuring me that Texas would turn "blue" with the last governor's election (when Abortion Barbie ran against Abbott) I told him I'd mortgage my house, sell my beloved old cat, hock my grandmother's quilts and bet him every last cent I could scrape up that it wouldn't happen, not then and I'd still wager my house that it won't happen in MY lifetime and doubtful that it would his.

Doesn't surprise me a bit. Austin is our "black sheep" part of the family/state. Of course, with University of Texas there, that's what you get in a city with a major college.
