Thanks to everyone for posting, this post is about to slide off the "front page".

I was torn between using Cher's "Half Breed", which I always thought was about a gypsy, but she's dressed in full Indian (and fake) regalia OR Paul Revere and the Raiders "Indian Reservation", quite the social commentary at the time about horrible conditions on reservations.

And I remember when my brother played baseball, the team was called the "Indians" when using that name wasnt offensive. After the game, the baseball team rode on the float in the parade and Indians wearing the headdress walking alongside the float. It was fun and innocent back then.<br

Oh and yes, Wolfman Jack was the announcer, maybe even hosted a few times, but I believe they had several hosts throughout its run. Helen Reddy was one, but don't think for all that long. Some comics were on, too, one of the first times I ever saw Richard Pryor.
Seems like one of them was Bunny? Beverly? Something like that? Of course, Bandstand ran for how many years? I expect the first ones on the earliest shows were old enough to be the grandparents of those on the last shows. I read an article a few yrs. back that claimed most of those kids were gay. Not sure where they came up with THAT, but..

All I really remember is "I'll give that one a 75, Dick. It's got a good beat and you can dance to it.... [ More ]
