Excellent comment Konane. Who knows what type of oil they put in your vehicle at Pronto Lube. I buy only the best oil, like Castrol and Valvoline at Kragen Auto Parts store. It is easy to dispose of the the used oil, by returning it to Kragen's store.

<br />In fact a friend of ours from out of state experienced just that a couple of years ago, we noticed a leak and sure enough they didn't seat the filter sufficiently. They also get you in and out so quickly old oil doesn't have enough time to drain thoroughly... so many reasons to do it yourself if you can.

I don't drink, so the DUI is out. I still change oil and filter on all 3 of our SUV's. Reason I am doing it is, I don't trust those quickie lube places. Back in 1986 I was going to Collins Communications factory school. Was on the road, so had to get it done in one of those lube spaces. in Cedar Rapids, IA. I drove out and low oil light came on soon after. Guess what, they did not tighten the oil plug. Good thing I was not on a Freeway going fast. Took it back to that place and they apoligized left and right. So, that is the reason I still do the oil changes in my garage. I also put on the best oil filter money can buy, Wix.... [ More ]

That was great -- because it's so true! I love the remark about dropping the drain plug. I got to the point where I would just purposely unscrew it and let it fall into the pan, because I was sick of trying unsuccessfully to catch it!
