I lost out on two fantastic jobs I was more than qualified for, but they "had to" hire minorities. One, a black guy, failed a drug test, but they sent him to rehab. He came back bu was later caught smoking a joint in a no smoking zone...in a refinery, so that was the end of their tolerance. The other was given to a Hispanic young woman, but in just a few months she was pregnant and they let her take off the last three months; she had the baby, got off for maternity leave then within a half yr. she was knocked up again. They gave her a load of leeway, even though she hadn't worked a yr. in the two yrs. she was employed, then she up and quit when they wanted her to come back to work - she sued for discrimination but that didn't fly in court, not here in TX....
