The above is incidental to the continent of plastic floating in the ocean. If I remember correctly several years back large cities such as New York sent their garbage to somewhere in South America for disposal. If memory is correct the article said the the receiver simply dumped it in the ocean. Maybe that's where the data for third world pollution comes from. Wonder how many more large cities do same

They have also continued to build new coal-fueled power plants at a huge pace, spewing even more "greenhouse gases" into the atmosphere, but the worst thing is the massive amounts of coal ash they produce. In the meantime, the U.S. has fallen out of the ranks of the worst polluters and while we still have a number of Superfund sites to clean up, our air and water is as clean as it's been in years.
