The pitch of the voices would be twice the frequency if it was just an analog sped up audio video (it would really be mickey mousey) . What I believe the software is doing... is removing pieces of the audio to shorten the time of the audio and then compressing...simultaneously syncing the audio, it has advanced greatly since the company I worked for used these techniques in the 90's. Think of it like this... it isn't analog tape it is digital data completely mathematical. The first chips capable of these D/A conversions were called audio codecs and they would use for eg. an algorithm CVSD continuous variable slope differentiation to translate the analog to digital data.........yes I am boring....
