I am usually sensitive to any hint of leftist messages in a storyline, but I do not see it as that. To me, it ,it's just the tale of how the Russians tried to cover up the disaster (and the officials trying to CYA) and the ineptness of Soviet engineers and the flaws in both Soviet ideology and technology.
