<br />One time I was putting trash in the dumpster here where I live and somebody had moved and put a lot of books & stuff in the trash and I saw something sticking out at the edge of a book so I picked it up and there was money in it.<br /><br />...can't remember now how much but was close to $100 so I kept it because the people had already moved and i didn't know who they were....I did feel a little guilty about it but hey they say finders keepers losers weepers don't they!...lol... I have been lucky enough to find a $10 or $20 bill on the grass or on a sidewalk. And needed the money for food!

If a person fails to turn over found money or property to law enforcement, it is considered theft and a person can be prosecuted, said Reischer.

When I was a kid a guy and his son were walking down a street in Jersey City and spotted a car in a driveway with the trunk opened slightly. They checked out the car and found a satchel in the trunk containing a lot of cash (turned out to be $50,000).Knocked on the door, no answer.

So they walked to a nearby police station, told the desk sergeant the story and handed the money over. They were told to check back in a few days.

A few days later they return to the police station.

No money, no desk sergeant. No one has seen him since a few days ago , they were told.
