it back even if at the time you don't see how you can possibly can & especially if you feel as if you need it yourself you just have to let God worry about that part of it and he will for sure...that's called having faith in him!...I have to work on it all the time

Along the lines you were writing about, I now live in a small town in the Midwest. One day there was a young guy panhandling on a corner holding two kittens so people driving by could see them. My wife told me to stop the car and give the guy a couple of bucks, 'the poor kitties needed to eat." Two days later same guy, same kitties, but he's walking to the corner from a motel and carrying four cartons of Marlboros. I teasingly told my wife those kitties appreciated her contribut... me when I got out of the car to walk to the door...they have cracked down some on them now...they get on them and it will last awhile then they come right back. ..one lady one day was going from car to car and finally the manager came out and told her to leave or he was calling the police...the scammer ones are getting way too brazen so it's hard to tell who is scamming and who is on the up and up about it. Well I read it. Here's why. First, you wrote it. I like reading your posts. Second, my wife and I were in Houston for over 3 months while she was being treated for Leukemia at MD Anderson. Let me tell you I had never seen so many people standing on corners trying to get handouts. I mean EVERY corner. There is a CVS just up the street from our hotel on Main St and there are 5 or 6 homeless people that just hang out near the door, or if it was hot they would huddle under a tree around the side. Here lately I have been on a lucky streak winning on some scratch cards so got to feeling guilty when I passed

by a man standing on the corner begging for money so a day or two ago as I have before when I used to see a lady near there and finally stopped for her.

This time I pulled into a store parking lot at the corner where he was standing and gave him a little money and he said he was getting ready to leave and kept

thanking me...must not have been a good day for him...I told him I had been meaning to stop for him...he did not have a mask on so I did not want to

get too close to him so he walked on I suppose he was going to his car but I didn't look to see...I went on

into the store....it really bothers me to get wins then pass by these homeless people so every now and then

I will stop as I think it could happen to anyone if times got that bad and there are some in long lines these days

to get food who never thought they would ever be in that situation...you see it on the news every night.

Then late yesterday I went to Sam's club to get some gas and they

have some big trash cans sitting by each pump

so this fairly young man...looked like maybe he was in his 20's or 30's walked up

and started digging in the trash by

the lady who was pumping gas in front of me and she gave him a pack of peanut butter and crackers then

he came over right by me and tried to make eye contact with me and said Hello and tried to start a conversation

with me and I didn't say anything so he kept digging in the trash can by me so when he saw he was not getting anywhere

with me he went to the other row of cars on the other side and dug in those cans...I don't think he got any

takers...I notice he mostly went to where women were pumping gas and not the men but there was something about him because he seemed so brazen and acted like he had this down pat

as I'm sure he had done it before...I just had a strong feeling he was a scam artist but of course I could

not be 100% sure...one reason I say that is because I saw a man and a lady on a corner near there not too

long ago and he was sitting in a wheelchair the lady was pushing him up and down and he was holding a sign this man looked like him....I was sitting in the parking lot of Wal Mart beside this store I was watching them just before

leaving and got a big shock when all of a sudden he got out of the chair and folded it up and they walked off now

how did he get well enough all of a sudden to not need the chair.

I guess the best thing to do is myself or anyone else wants to help any of these people just go ahead and do

it and let them live with whether they are on the up up with it or not.

The thing is there are signs in most of the stores in that area asking for people to apply for jobs working there

but then if they are homeless how do they get a job with nowhere to live....I even asked one if he would like to

work because I knew where he could get a job and someone who knew him told me he had rather live in

the woods...so sad!

Guess I had better be careful being close to these people the reason I say that is when I got hepatitis a year

or so ago and some kind of bacteria similar to e-coli one of the questions I was asked was if I had been around

any homeless people and I said no but thought back and some do sit in a booth at a Sheetz I used to buy my tickets from

and I have gotten close to them when I gave them some snacks before but I think it was the salad I bought from a grocery store that supposed to be

pre-washed and I did not wash it and it was what caused my problem because the dr. said it may have

been it because it had been recalled more than once...sorry this is so long but just putting this out there in case you help these people try to do it at a

distance because if some live in the woods you know they probably don't have good hygiene and I had never

thought of that until the covid virus got here so we have to be very careful.

It's good to help others but this day and time you have to watch out how you do it....I just could not believe

he was digging in the trash cans as dirty as they are and no telling what kind of germs were in there.

I think he wanted money because he gave the lady a strange look when she gave him the peanut butter crackers

like what are you giving this to me for....oh well like I said we can help them and do it in a safe way as

possible if they are scam artist they will have to live with that not us!

One more thing is this....I had gone in a grocery store to get some buy one get one free toilet paper and 2 times

when I went it was sold out so after I gave this man the money I walked into the CVS store and guess what they

had a big end cap display of buy one get one free of toilet paper so I looked up and said thank you ...it

was a little miracle that happened because I stopped for that man and would not have thought of stopping there

to look for a deal like the other store had that kept selling out....when you help people no matter how small

you get it back in ways you would not even think of....Rev. Joel Osteen preached about this on TV last Sunday!
