Granted it's subjective, but I always thought Whitney Houston's rendition was one of the best simply because she sang the words compared to yesterday's screaming of the words.

As for instrumental playing of the National Anthem, Jimi Hendrix's guitar anti-war version made taking a knee by comparison look very lame.
