When you let Leftists like today's Democrats have complete control of society, it quickly becomes a police state like China is today. There is nothing Democrats love more than the word Mandatory. It is some kind of whimsical fantasy to them. Normal people can't understand that but it is what it is. The sad part is that they often live to regret it when they see the always inevitable outcome - an iron-fisted police state where you will do exactly as you are told by sadistic elites or suffer the consequences. You will never convince them that this is exactly what happens every time because their brains are hard-wired to resist simple logic.

Our form of government was designed to have the government do the will of the people but the Democrats prefer the people doing the will of the government. And even better if everything the government decrees is MANDATORY.
