No bird feeders, no fruit trees, no barbecues or grilling or smoking outside, keep your edible garbage in your freezer until it's time to haul all your trash out to the dump. No food of any kind in your outside garbage cans. Keep your doors bolted good. No cooking with just the screen door closed. Never ever ever feed any animal anywhere around your property. And if you're smart you'll always be armed when you're outside just in case. I always had my Glock20 10mm with me when I lived in bear country. Some folks said it wasn't necessary but I always figured I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it when it came to protecting my family and/or friends.
