Hey, Delores. Here's a story for you. (and it's true, I swear) Once I met a gorgeous man (a retired surgeon) who was rich, drove a new Mercedes and we started chatting. This was when I was still going out on the weekendsand (gulp!) dating. Anyway, women were throwing themselves at this guy and he asked ME to dinner. I don't like meeting men at bars (so why was I there? lol) so I hesitated and decided to talk to him for a while. I was in one of my silly moods & when we walked outside, he pointed to his shiny, expensive black sports car & I asked if it had a floor and said I liked the car Fred Flintstone drives. He asked "Who is Fred Flintstone?" So I looked at him in disbelief and said "You know...Wilma, Barney, Betty, Pebbles, Dino, Bam-Bam, Yabba Dabba Doo...and he just stared at me. "Sorry, I don't know those people." Well, I went home by myself that night and ate leftovers. The next day I told a friend and she asked "Why would you turn down a nice dinner with a handsome doctor?" I just said "Are you you kidding? He didn't know who Fred & Wilma are! One night I had just shut the computer down and got into bed and was reading a magazine. i got to a part of the article I was reading and said, "Oh for crying out loud", and got up out of bed. My wife said, "Now what are you doing?", and I said, "I'm going to reply to this guy." She reminded me it was a hard copy magazine and not a disucssion board with a forum. LOL! I've heard people use AFAIK (as far as I know)and IIRC (if I remember correctly) in conversations... [ More ]
