you are in tn, right? try eastern tn. The countryside is so much safer. We're pretty friendly here. Knoxville is too busy for me but the outskirts of it are just fine and nothing what you described there. I can think of plenty of spots in TN that are just fine for raising little ones. Get out and take a drive.

<br />One suggestion before you sign a lease (if you rent) or buy a home (if you own) is to talk to the locals and read the daily crime reports. I'm not so sure the internet sites are reliable, but they're a place to start. Mike...you know raising kids in a city is difficult, no matter which city you live in. Perhaps a suburban location would be better for you? Still close to the city for when you need it, but out of the "crime zone."
