That would be for testing purposes on the pants, bag them there at the scene, they don't get contaminated when the body is transferred. As people put their hands in their pants or store various items in the pockets, DNA of materials can me in the fabric

Another question I have is why did they take the shooters pants off. He is now in his underwear. They would have had to have moved his body to do it. Wouldn't that be considered altering a crime scene

Maybe it is 8 but are the 8 from the same weapon on the roof that was recovered and are they a match to that firearm ?

Audio recordings show 3 shots then 5 then 1. Everyone one thinks Crooks fired the first 3 shots.

In this just released video a cop counts 5 shell casings next to Crook's body. 4:50 mark.

If there are 5 casings next to Crooks then doesn't that make him the 2nd shooter?
