Health care/ big pharma is one gigantic industry, driven entirely by profits. You don't believe that? Ask yourself, why do I have to take a drug(s) for the rest of my life. Why don't they just find the source of my problem and fix that? Answer: Because there is no money in it. A cured patient is a customer lost. And they want you to be their customer for life.
