If an American manufacturer ships his product from the state manufactured in to a state with a sales tax that is a tariff that is placed on the residents of the sales taxed state.

When a state puts a sales tax into affect that is the same as a tariff.<br />Shoppers will look to other avenues to purchase their items to avoid the sales tax.<br />You have the case where shoppers were buying products online from out of state to avoid the tax. Then the state started b!tching about it.
