Second, Rick is a very wise man. I agree with him.
Third, when I was growing up I never considered singers or movie stars to be my role models and yet I keep hearing Britney Spears and other celebs are today's role models. I remember reading about Marie Curie and Clara Barton and wanting to be just like them.
YOU are the role model for your children. The only reason kids pick cultural or societal role models is because they don't have one of their own. You be the man and the role model for your kids and I don't care what they watch on TV, what video games they play or what music they listen to, YOU will still be their role model as long as you retain their respect.

<br

The heros back in my day were the ones that put away villans.
It was not a continuous thing on t v or the news about anti society thugs.
Look up tv back in the fifties on the shows they had and you can see what was broadcast.
I think a lot of the change started to occur during the sixties when the hippies were the thing.
I very seldom watch tv any more.

Tenaj, there are a lot of very good TV programs. I've watched many family movies and shows recently. They just need to be monitored. There isn't anything at all offensive about a show like Hannah Montana on Disney Channel or the Air Bud movies on Animal Planet. For young children, History Channel and Discovery might be too intense, but they also have excellent programming as well as Public Broadcasting channels.
