I like the feet out 90 degrees aspect. I took my German Shepherd out for a walk a few years ago. We get down to this one neighbors place that has an Anatolian Shepherd where they both chase each other along their chain link fence. That morning, it had rained, so my 85 lb. ball of fur and teeth decides he's gonna bolt cause he sees his buddy. I casually hold him like I have done for years, knowing I weigh triple what my dog does. He gets at the end of his leash and yanks me onto my @$$ so quick and off he goes, leash dragging and all. I just lay there on the wet lawn thinking this has got to look hilarious if someone has this on video. No loss of sight or head to the ground aspect but I do have to chuckle at the story as it paints a good picture and a reminder. Thanx Jade... [ More ]

Had something interesting happen this weekend.

I was taking my dog Katie out early in the morning Saturday.

She's a Black German Shepherd and very excited when we go out.

It was a little icy and snowy.

Every time we go out, she tends to jolt for whatever... so, I usually hold leash till we are all the way out in back.

I usually put the beginning of the leash under my shoes so it would slow her down when she makes a run for it.

Well, this time it was an interesting set of circumstances.

Katie took off, she didn't get slowed, the leash zipped under my shoes and even before I could jump the rope...

Pow! my feet and legs went 90 .

I fell flat on my back and cracked the back of my head square on the frozen ground.

Fortunately, I cannot be knocked out; fully conscious the whole time.

A little spin and I lay there a bit.

But, here's the interesting bit... I felt better after.

No headache at all.

Wow! I feel amazing even now.

A little sore neck, but mmm-yeah, I can think even better.

However, to give a back story to this.

When I was very young, think I was 5 or 6, I was climbing a tree while standing on a 4 foot fence.

I reached to grab a decayed broken branch with both hands.

The branch broke, I fell back first on to a concrete car park and slammed my head.

The lights went out, but I did not... I couldn't see anything.

I tried hard to get up and was crying, I Can't See! stumbling as I tried to find my way.

My family saw what happened and rushed to help.

They said my eyes were circling around rapidly.

I kept crying, I Can't See!

Then I began to vomit, dizzy as hell... uhhaa-ah-ahh!!!

Slowly my sight came back; starting in the center and working out to the sides.

If you've ever played around with cutting off the circulation to the head, you might know if you know what I'm saying.

Eventually, I gained full sight and all the while I was fully conscious.

The family kept watch of me to make sure I was ok.

I had a nasty headache for a while and had some wicked dreams, but all got better.

Since then, I always knew, I can never be knocked out.... [ More ]
