McIngvale, owner of Houston-based Gallery Furniture, is known for placing multimillion-dollar bets tied to store promotions and has had major wins and losses.

In 2022, he placed $10 million in wagers on the Houston Astros to win the World Series and won $75 million after the Astros defeated the Philadelphia Phillies. One bet included a $3 million Caesars wager that paid out $30 million, the largest payout by a U.S. sportsbook at the time .
