Our skin gets thinner as we age, loses collagen, elasticity, and the cushioning fat layer under it. Could also be due to a vitamin C or K deficiency.

Stage makeup is really good. They have concealers and other products which can even hide tattoos. Maybe they need some of that to hide the bruise so the news can report his accomplishments.
