DOD budget money is used for operations and maintenance, salary, benefits, housing, healthcare for active, retired and civilian personnel, procurement of hardware, planes, weapons systems, ships, missiles, RDTE, military base upgrades, construction and family housing, contracts from suppliers, homeland defense, and of course service members need to be fed and clothed.
