Start slow. Check out what other people have done. There is plenty of info here on LP. Go back and read some posts and blogs from the old timers that were here from the beginning. The Key to Winning the Pick 3 Lottery Consistently: Strategy, Psychology Risk Management

If you've ever wondered how some Pick 3 players seem to cash tickets over and over again like this recent payout below while others play for years without much success, you're not alone.

I've been studying and playing the Pick 3 lottery for years, and over that time I've been fortunate enough to hit winning numbers in multiple states on a regular basis. More importantly, I've also had the opportunity to teach other players who have gone on to win with these strategies and truth be told alot of them win wayyyy more than I.

No strategy guarantees a win after all, every lottery drawing is a game of chance but I do believe that how you approach the game can make a huge difference in how disciplined and consistent you are as a player.

Today, I want to share three principles that have completely changed the way I play the Pick 3 lottery.

Stop Guessing and Start Following a Pick 3 Strategy

One thing I learned early is that simply playing birthdays, anniversaries, or your old address wasn't the approach I wanted to take.

Sure...those numbers have meaning to you but it has nothing to do with winning the lottery.

The lottery machine doesn't know that.

Instead, I prefer using structured Pick 3 lottery strategies that I've personally tested over time in multiple states.

Different situations call for different approaches.

For example, I have strategies specifically for:

Pick 3 doubles

Repeat numbers

Number positioning

Monthly prediction methods

Other pattern-based approaches I've developed over the years

When I identify a group of numbers that fit one of my strategies, I don't immediately abandon them if they don't hit the first day.

I stay disciplined and in the game according to my strategy.

That's where many players struggle.

They'll play one number today...

A completely different number tomorrow...

Then chase yesterday's winning number the next day.

That's exhausting.

And expensive.

Consistency doesn't mean winning every draw.

It means staying consistent with your process.

Psychology Is the Secret Most Pick 3 Players Ignore

Believe it or not, I think psychology is just as important as finding good numbers.

In fact...

Winning can actually become dangerous.

Sounds crazy, right?

Here's what I mean.

A player finally wins a few nice tickets.

Suddenly confidence turns into overconfidence.

Instead of following the same strategy that produced those wins, they begin saying things like:

I have a feeling about this number.

This one just looks lucky.

I know 777 has to come.

Next thing you know...

They're no longer following a system.

They're following emotions.

I've watched it happen more times than I can count.

Patience.

Discipline.

Self-control.

Those traits have helped me far more than chasing hot numbers ever has.

Mindset matters.

Risk Management: Protect Your Lottery Bankroll

Most people only think about winning.

Very few think about protecting their money.

That's where risk management comes in.

I actually compare Pick 3 to day trading because both involve uncertainty and probability.

Some days you win.

Some days you don't.

The goal isn't to win every single time.

The goal is to avoid one bad week wiping out an entire month's bankroll.

Depending on my confidence level, I might approach a play differently.

For example:

Sometimes I'll place a simple $0.25 Box bet on a number I'm testing.

Other times, when I have much higher confidence in a prediction, I may play it Straight 6-Way at $0.50 per ticket or higher .

Everyone manages risk differently.

Personally...

I'm pretty frugal.

Some of my students are much more aggressive than I am.

One student told me she won more than $44,000 on a single Pick 3 play.

Her ticket reportedly cost around $110 , and she bought multiple tickets.

I'll be honest...

I probably would've been sweating before handing over that much money!

But congratulations to her that was an incredible hit.

Don't Chase Yesterday's Winning Numbers

One of the biggest mistakes I see new Pick 3 players make is chasing yesterday's draw.

Just because a number hit yesterday doesn't automatically mean it's due or not due today.

That's why I stick to my strategy instead of reacting emotionally to recent results.

Having a plan before you walk into the store is much better than trying to invent one while standing in line.

Every Pick 3 Player Needs a Plan

Whether you're new to Pick 3 or you've been playing for years, I believe every player should have three things:

A proven strategy they've tested.

The discipline to follow it consistently.

Good risk management to avoid chasing losses.

Those three things won't guarantee you'll win every draw but they can help you become a more disciplined player instead of relying on impulse.

I've spent years studying the Pick 3 lottery, creating strategies, and helping other players improve the way they approach the game.
