Original Blog Entry: It wasn't FIVE winners it was three

I'm not exactly sure how a situation like this happens but I've seen it happen a few times before.

So it was actually three winners but for whatever reason one of the winners played the same combination three times on the same ticket. I have no idea why someone would intentionally play the same combination three times.

Ohhhhh This reminds me of pick 2 - 5 games. Most pick players play the same straight combination multiple times to maximise their winnings. Well, I did a little quick math and I guess the person felt very confident that the numbers were gonna play in Fantasy 5 so they wanted the bulk of the jackpot. It was a preemptive strike on their part thinking that someone else might play those numbers too. Or that it might play in a QP which it did. So since they played the same combination three times they will get 72K while the other two winners get 24K.

It's actually smart if you think about it. The only question is how could they have been so confident that those numbers were gonna play? So that they played it thrice.

If the person only played it once then all three of them would have gotten 40K each but they played it thrice so they get the bulk of the jackpot.

I'm not sure I will try this in the future because this is something you do only when you are confident. I have never been confident about a Fantasy 5 combination because how can you be confident when there are 376,992 possible options? I just play what I like or QPs. But everything is a gamble so I guess it doesn't hurt to try it occasionally for an extra dollar. Rather than play a completely different combination, play the same combination twice or thrice because it could just be your lucky day.

Is it greedy? I don't think so. It is smart strategy. Is it mean? Selfish? This game is so hard to win so if you are gonna win you want the most money possible.

The difference though, with the pick games is that no other player is being affected when you play the same number straight multiple times. But with Fantasy 5 obviously the other winners are directly affected by you playing the same combination multiple times. They gonna get much less money. Although I am sure they will be happy getting 24K at one time. There should not be any sour grapes. If I was one of the other two winners I would not be salty. I would be grateful for that 24K. I just wanna experience winning this game no matter how many people I have to share it with.
