First you write you have a thyroid problem and had to see a specialist. Then you write you drink a lot of brewed tea and that Scientific American is wrong when publishing it might be bad for you.

Do you think this makes sense? I mean, if I said I just saw a cardiologist and it's baloney that all the fat I've eaten for years causes heart disease, wouldn't you sit and wonder about that? Huh

Crap on a Cracker! I was just diagnosed with a thyroid problem in December and I just went into the specialist yesterday and I am waiting for the results from the many tests that were run. Anyway I went to the grocery store today and happend to skim a Scientific American and lo and behold there was an article about this subject in the issue. I saw that brewed black tea is at the top of their list as one of the worst things for you and, I kid you not, I drink (or rather as of today drank) one or two gallons of brewed black tea a day!!... [ More ]

Yes, Jap. Agree. That's why citrus acid is such a good preservative. It's natural and it fights bacteria. There are many natural preservatives, so chemicals shouldn't be necessary to add to our food. I guess, since we are society of convenience (I admit, I'm also a member of the fastest/easiest crowd) leaving out preservatives that make our bread last longer, etc., might upset some people. I just checked my bread and it says "calcium Proprionate, a preservative" I know that's a mold inhibitor, but I have no idea if it's completely safe. I think it's also used to preserve tires. At least calcium & salt is something we naturally use. I don't the human body ever had fluoride in it.... [ More ]

I grew up in the country drinking well water. Because it wasn't fluoridated, the dentist would give me fluoride treatments in his office twice per year. It was a gel he'd put in a tray in my mouth, and I know I swallowed alot of it. Do you think that explains what's wrong with me? twitch twitch

I read about alot of this years ago. I wonder if there is anything we can do? My city water company says there is no floride in our water and they recommend we use floridated toothpaste. Also, what about bottled water?
