Mike, in Sept 2000 I had a root canal. The price was $350 + $150 for the post. In Oct 2006 I went to the same dentist and he charged me $768 then added $358 for the post. Maybe I would have had it pulled if I knew it would cost over $1,100, but the written estimate said "total" I thought "so does the $768 include everything?" meant the post. Anyway, when I gasped and said that means the price had more than doubled in 6 years her snooty answer was "so have houses and gas" I didn't need any, but Publix has 2 for 1 on Maxwell House so bought a lot of coffee this week. From now on I'm getting all the 2-fer items and saving them if not perishable.... [ More ]

let me say something about rising prices.a couple years ago i bought a fuel pump and got it bought and put on my Z-28 for around 100 bucks.a couple days ago my van's fuel pump went out and for parts and labor 400 dollars.ridiculous how prices are rising.

Mike, I was typing when you wrote that last comment. I am thinking the same thing but we have several months to decide. I was planning to move to SC and the 5.9% unemployment rate (4th lowest in the country) is scaring me. That is a state that has been hurt badly by outsourcing.

Then in the next decade on what is known as Black Monday, in 1987 the Dow fell more than 500 points and we recovered from that. Just like today, everyone talked about the recession. Thanks for asking, Mike. I voted for Hillary Clinton. I wish my vote meant more in Florida. There were times I thought about voting for Obama, but what was said against Bill Clinton changed my mind. I don't care how dirty the race gets, but I want the candidates to stick to the issues. Maybe this isn't a good time for me to post. I just got off the phone with a friend who voted for Obama, but for the wrong reasons IMHO. We all have our opinions but they should be based on issues.... [ More ]

I'm actually for Hillary. She's been there before and the country didn't go to pot, like with Bush. (stupid gas prices!) I don't like anything Obama stands for. While Hillary can be a feminist, she is still way less of a threat to the morality of America than Obama is. She is the lesser of the two evils, I think. If I have to choose just between those two. I haven't heard anything "great" from any of the candidates this year, though, to be honest. Though Bush did some awful things, he did do what he said he would during his campaigne that kept me for him. He didn't allow our guns to be taken away from us. (Obama is for having them all taken away) He didn't allow abortion to be legalized nationwide. (Obama is pro-abortion) He was not a gay activist. (Obama is ). Correct me if I have misunderstood anything about Obama, please. You see, I can't say Bush lied during his campaign, but I am sure mad about the way he has handled the war in Iraq and the whole plummet of our economy. I was glad he raised minimum wage. (One of the things he said he would do.) I was glad they did the welfare reform. And I was glad that he wouldn't allow gay marriage to be legal nationwide. I don't believe in discrimination against gay folk, but my christian beliefs will not allow me to be for gay marriages. We are, however, on the verge of a stock market crash., and as a result a recession. I don't need to explain how bad that is.... [ More ]
