I think that is something to the equivalence of "it's okay to call a white person a 'cracker' but it's not okay to call a black person anything but 'black', (and I have known some to complain about that word too..) I don't like double standards. And for me to say Obama is a 'racist' is a political nicety. I know my comment is going to draw all kinds out of the woodwork now. But I'm more for Hillary than Obama. I hope the collegiate voters are more aware of his words than the general public. So far, they are living up to their reasoning of their votes not counting. We are suppose to make educated votes. Not based on color, gender, etc... What I believe in is what Hillary keeps saying. Huckabee just didn't have the experience for the rat race. He would have gotten eaten alive. Hillary knows what she's in for. Obama only thinks he knows.... [ More ]
Okay - thank goodness for the internet! Yay! Here is a 1998 article written after McCain said it. I am trying to find the comment in the newspaper too.

http://www.salon.com/news/1998/06/25newsb.html

I guess he didn't sing "Bomb, bomb Iran" (to the tune of the Beach Boys Barbara Ann) in front of a group recently either? The man in the video on YouTube isn't an actor. Or should I just "lighten up" as McCain told critics to do?

http://www.youtube.com... [ More ]
By the way, there is nothing particularly "strong" about Chelsea. I see her as an average child of a politician, someone who was given a golden ticket in life and does not seem to have done much with it.

Bill Clinton injected racism into the Democrat primary, when none previously existed. Did you notice that the black vote was basically split up until the point where he started making subtly racist comments? Now the Latino vote is swinging Obama's way too.

Even Dem... [ More ]

Obama himself has been saying that even after a year, voters in places like Texas and Florida don't really know him that well. So how much do independent voters know about Barack Obama, his voting record and his past positions? Even less than Democrats know. For example, he recently told voters in Idaho that he favors the Second Amendment - bu... [ More ]

You are right Tenaj. I guess one reason I am more affected by this campaign than others is that my vote didn't count. Delegates, superdelegates or whatever goes on at the conventions is another story, but the whole thing doesn't make sense to me. A mostly Republican legislature in FL makes a decision, knowing the consequences, and we as citizens have to swallow it. We got up, we went to the polls and we voted. It should mean something. It does to me - it means that, although we were told "you don't matter" (something reiterated by Sen Obama when he said our votes don't count) that we wanted to be heard. There was a record turnout and the results were clear. In 2000 we became a joke to people around the world. Then last week the media reported that lots of people were showing up at the polls on super Tues in FL. That was a gross exaggeration. The Republicans in FL want the Democrats here to look like a bunch of inept morons.... [ More ]
And the voters who let something like this sway their vote - well what can we say. There ain't no rules in politics.
