Martial law is way too much and beyond what I am willing to put up with, I would give up some freedom to gain some security, but don't want to give up total freedom to get total security. But regardless of those things, evil should be punished, but real evil, not make believe evil. Hitler called martial law and took everybody's freedom away. Hitler was the chancellor and as such canceled out everybody's rights.

Yeah, I thought the whole reason we were fighting/serving our country was to Protect our freedom. Not militantly guard it away.

Martial law....huh...Remember Reichstag? The Nazis bombed one of their own buildings in order to blame it on the Poland government, so they had a reason to start a war campain, and implement martial law, rounding up all the polish people. This sounds so familiar....hmmmmmm.

your right.when you have to worry about what you say on the phone and can't exercise your right to speak out peacefully then you know something is wrong.personally i can't wait until someone (hopefully a democrat) gets in there and stuff eases up a bit.

The Patriot Act was one of the first steps to strip us of our freedoms. I do believe there is terrorism and that we need to keep a watchful eye, but when people ask me if the economy, the war, healthcare or mortgages is the #1 issue in this presidential campaign, I always say IMHO it should to protect our freedom. You can have the best job, the nicest house and food on your table, but if you can't walk down the street and look "different" or join a peaceful demonstration without worrying about being detained without legal representation and possibly tortured, then none of those material things matter....
