Thank you time*treat. Is there a risk of that happening a week later or is that a risk that tends to happen the first few days of healing?

One reason dentists give you the antibiotics is because you have germs in your mouth that create plaque. When they do cleanings and *especially* when they do oral surgery, there is the chance for these germs to get into your blood stream (as each tooth has its own tiny artery and vein). This is the same plaque that can build up in a major blood vessel and lead to a heart attack. The idea behind the antibiotics is to kill those germs if they happen to get where they don't belong.

He left a boat to help you, that's also another joke I was making. "Whatever floats his boat"...get it? Infact, I made a joke about dentists a few months ago when a friend told me that a dentist missed his reservation for a taxi ride to the airport, and I came back with the line....I know, trying to get a dentist to keep his reservation is like pulling teeth. And my friend laughed. Nevermind...lol

Pac, I don't understand your comment about Jewish dentists! I was saying how sweet it was for him to come in on the way to a Bar Mitzvah just because I was in pain. Wow! You have a bad attitude.

Scary, so happy that you found a nice office and someone who cares about you. That's so important. Once I had a problem with a root canal in Massachusetts. The endodontist showed up in a tuxedo. He was on his way to a Bar Mitzvah! The dentist in FL is just the opposite. I could be dying and he'd never get off his boat.

Just because the dentist dosen't give you the antibiotic him or herself dosen't mean he or she dosen't give you a generic type....sorry...I should've been more precise. The one he or she refers or prescribes you is what I should've said......is that better?...lol

pacattack05, I did have some hesitations about taking antibiotics, but I have an infection of some kind in my jaw and hopefully these will help clear it up. The dentist where I go to actually doesn't keep the antibiotics or the pain pills on site. You have to get a prescription and pick them up at Walgreens or somewhere. However, some of the info sounds interesting so I may end of checking out that book. Thanks.

He wrote that book called " What doctors don't want you to know" or something to that effect. I used to own that book, but my roommate lost it. He also says not to eat shellfish because they cannot neutralize the poisons in the oceans like fish that have scales can. Only eat fish with fins or scales.
