Thanks everyone for checking in! That's the one I keep hearing about,AVG. That's being installed. Well,this has certainley been a lesson and eye opener. Wonder if I can get a refund from Norton? No harm in asking,lol.

Just remember to run any antivirus programs when you are online ONLY!!!!!. Never run it offline. It slows the computer way down.

Lottolaughs, I also have AVG Anti-Virus. Have had it for years, and it's free, free, free. Haven't had any problems whatsoever!!! I do online work at home, and my company approved AVG...so it must have some validity!!! Sorry your computer is sick!!!

<br />Have successfully used Trend Micro Housecall and now their Internet Security .... no viruses, no spyware. Trend Micro comes with an install shield , uninstalls clean plus they have awesome tech support.

Sorry you got a virus. I've always used AVG which is free. I also use Windows Defender and the firewall that came with XP. I've tried Norton and McAfee and found them to be too annoying. If used Zone Alarm (firewall) and also Windows OneCare. You can download OneCare from the MS site free for 90 days if you want to test it out.

with the Antivirus 2008 VIRUS! And here I thought I was so protected with my Norton 360 Security. It didn't detect it at all,what a bunch of junk. That's what the technician told me,Norton and MCAffee are all garbage. Trend Micro is one of the best and one other free one,I believe one of you mentioned it in my blog,I'll have to go back and check.

Just a warning to all, if you see pop ups start showing up on your computer advertising Antivirus 2008,please know that you have a virus lingering in there. It shows a scan going on and tells you how many viruses its detected but its all a bunch of bull. Meanwhile it's wrecking your files.
