You don't have to get *hurricanes* to have flooding. Ask anyone who lives within a few miles of a river. Here, you have a few days of heavy rains and see how nasty the flooding gets from Iowa and Illinois, this year - all the way out to Ohio, & PA, last year. With regards to England, in the winter they get major storms in from the North Atlantic. Their floodgate system is also used to hold back destructive storm driven waves.

Do you really dislike America that much? If whatreallyhappened is where you get your news then I understand. Could they tell us where that bottom picture came from?<br /><br />The reason they have so much invested in those other countries in that type of flood control is that if they didn't they wouldn't have countries, and it ain't like the old days where you go out and conquer some more land.<br /><br />So I looked a little closer that link you posted is from sep 05' but of course no referen...
