I was replacing a 3-4 year old 17 inch Samsung LCD monitor.

<br />LCD TV's have lower resolution. Get a high-resolution LCD panel, and use a TV tuner USB add-on to watch TV on it. You will get so much more functionality, and the TV picture will look better to boot.<br /><br />30 inches is wonderful on a desktop if you can swing it.

I thinking of getting another pc monitor soon ~ at least a 24 . But I'm seeing that for not much more $$$, I can bump up to an LCD TV with pc inputs, instead of just an LCD panel.
