The 60Hz. hum may originate from any AC powered device such as a flourescent lamp, an energy saver light, a refrigerator, a television, a motor, parallel electrical wiring (to the camera cabling), a fan, a dimmer switch, etc.......

Match the OUTPUT of the adapter to the input of the camera.

The camera itself may have an adjustment if the lines are out of sync lines solid black video lines. And of course, make sure you look where you plug it into the camera matches the adapter you have connected to it. It looks like bulls eye and will say some thing like 14VDC/300ma. make sure these match your adapter.

Typically those bars are caused by a 60Hz. induced hum on the cable between the camera and the monitor or near the camers itself. Also the AC adapter may have poor AC/DC filtering, radio shack carries that type of adapter.

This is truly a learning experience for someone that doesn't know anything about electricity. I decided to put up a couple a bullet cameras to keep an eye on the property. I have a 1/4 Sony CCD Model NO VCS-B14420 and a 1/3 Sony CCD HI-CAM HC-BC332. Both take 12V DC and came with no AC adapter. I was given a box of AC adapters Model RGD-48121000. Input:120VAC 60Hz. Output:12VDC 1000mA. The 1/3 camera will work on any of these adapters. The 1/4 camera only works on some and gets rolling horizontal lines. I'm guessing not all AC adapters are created equal. Any Ideas where to buy good AC adapters? Thanks.
