The TV show "Heroes" is just plain awesome. For anyone who has not seen it, definitely watch seasons 1 & 2 on DVD before watching season 3 & beyond.

Copy Cats?

----------------

Not in any particular order:

----------------

The first superhero?

---------------

The very first Greek god was Chaos. Very soon after him came Gaia (Earth), Tartaros (the great stormy pit beneath the earth), and Eros (Love, who later in history would be demoted/changed to the son of Aphrodite). Although Chaos is the first god in the genealogy, it is not mentioned whether or not Gaia, Tartaros, or the original Eros were supposed to be children of Chaos. Chaos by himself without a consort begat Erebos and Night; Erebos together with Night then begat Aither (light) and Hemera (the day). Then, Gaia by herself without a consort begat Ouranos (the sky), Ourea (the hills), and Pontos (the sea). Gaia and Ouranos (earth and sky) together begat the Titans, including Kronos and Rheia. And then, as you said, Rheia and Kronos together begat the first generation of Olympians: Hera, Zeus, Hades, Histia, Demeter, and Poseidon. But even before the Olympians were born, there were many other generations of gods in Greek mythology too, like the children of Night, other descendants of Gaia and Ouranos (including the sun, moon, and dawn), and children like the harpies and Iris (the rainbow).

---------------

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilgamesh

Epic of Gilgamesh

http://www.ancienttexts.org/library/mesopotamian/gilgamesh/

---------------

The most direct antecedents are pulp magazine crime fighters such as the peak human Doc Savage, the preternaturally mesmeric The Shadow, and The Spider and comic strip characters such as Hugo Hercules, Popeye and The Phantom.[citation needed] The first masked crime-fighter created for comic books was writer-artist George Brenner's The Clock,[13] [14] who debuted in Centaur Publications' Funny Pages vol. 1, #6 (Nov. 1936).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doc_Savage

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandrake_the_Magician

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Phantom

http://kottke.org/05/10/the-first-superhero

----------------

Superman's creator, Joe Shuster, came up with the idea of a strange visitor from another planet with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men with his buddy, Jerry Siegel, when the pair were only seventeen years old.

----------------

Heroes

http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/

---------------

http://www.wildcardsonline.com/

http://www.wildcardsbooks.com/

----------------

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby originally created the X-Men.

----------------

Spider-Man creator Stan Lee

----------------

The Fantastic Four is a fictional superhero team appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The group debuted in The Fantastic Four #1 (Nov. 1961), which helped to usher in a new naturalism in the medium. It was the first superhero team created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist and co-plotter Jack Kirby.

----------------

THE INCREDIBLES

http://emol.org/film/archives/incredibles/production1.html

THE INCREDIBLES was born in the imagination of director Brad Bird.

----------------

Slan by A.
