Congress seemed oblivious until the rally on 9-12.

I see Democratic gains as having been a protest against Bush's Iraq policy and the cost both in lives and dollars for prosecuting a 'war on terror' on two fronts with no foreseeable ending date. All this amplified by a clearly biased leftist media.

If the current dissatisfaction continues ... a complete turning out of congress will likely become a reality in the next several election cycles. Those spared are going to have to earn their place at the table.
