Seems doubtful, Mike. The old saw says generals always prepare for the war they just fought. The coincidence coordinators tend to be innovative enough to make sure the next one requires some imagination to prepare for. If there'd been no Iraq, no USSR, no Vietnam, no Korea we still wouldn't have retrofitted a higher freeboard on those levies. i think if we concentrated on the united states instead of iraq and other countries we will be prepared for our own disasters.do you think iraq is going to come help us when we end up at the bottom looking up? i doubt it.........people here starving and we are giving aid to other places its asinine.......

Either a person is one, or he isn't. The entry requirements aren't that high, but they're more-or-less accepted across the board, be it Inquisition Spaniards, Prison-camp guard Lutherans, or Educate-the-Heathen Anglicans, Baptists, Methodists, and Dutch somethingorotherists. Belief is the lowest common denominator. I find myself wondering if the quick response time of the heavy Christian thinkers mentioned in the next entry up didn't get some prompting from the ideas manufacturers who'd rather the fingers got pointed into the direction of elsewhere. Anywhere elsewhere but the source. Jack

Might well be so. On the other hand, it might not stop there. If things become sufficiently bad there might be groups of people not too different from those looters they're talking about wandering around trying to find individuals their own bright ideas and some fiery speaker lead them to believe's to blame. In an earlier entry comment someone observed environmentalists might be a target. The folks hanging upside down won't necessarily be people who, when they were right-side up had anything... [ More ]

30 oil platforms were shut down by the epa before the storm . A few of them toppled some of them broke free from their moorings. one is laying on the shore and another is parked under a bridge. Several refineries in the area are destroyed but might be salvagable that is they will try and get them up and running. Another out west burned to the ground not long ago. Best guess is unless they come up with a fuel plan this could go on for a year. prices are expected to go to 5 bucks a gal Whew i never dreamed we would see this happen in our lifetime. Our countrys leaders will be in the think tank for a long time on this disaster. They need to develop better plans for the future. They arent any more prepaired to deal with this disaster than any other disaster. People are standing around saying what do we do now they have no communications set up as the cell towers are down. It a rescue operation first and a releif effort after they get the people to safety. Gonna be a long road of burden for those folks. They don't even know where the releif effort people are going to stay.... [ More ]
