Perhaps it's a hand in hand coalition of bible belters and dog racing interests which are lobbying to keep the lottery out ..... because it would after all keep money from flowing into their coffer$$$$. We in Georgia certainly appreciate their contribution to our education system over the years

Mr. Bob, thanks for the comment. I agree with what I think you're saying... boiled down, those of us who live in states where we're allowed to legally do what we're going to do anyway are lucky, I suppose. The default position in the country is that we aren't allowed to do it unless some group of elected officials argues and cajoles and calculates to decide whether we're free do do it legally, or whether we have to sneak around and do it illegally. LOL! Seriously though, I've been a resident of lotteryless Alabama for almost 14 years. I moved here from Indiana (which might as well be lotteryless, now that most of their games are computer draw). When the lottery came up for a vote in 1999, it was defeated by a vote of 54 percent to 46 percent. For "states with no lottery" you forgot Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Mississippi, and Wyoming.
