Conditions are also favorable for a larger event (M 8.0+) to occur in the near future (30 days?).

New Zealand's earthquake is reported to have created a new fault line and moved the earth 11 feet. If that is true, there may be another large magnitude event in that segment of the 'ring of fire' in the near future.
