Never smoked till I went to Viet Nam. The government use to give the little packs of cigarettes in your c rations. At first I traded them, them smoked them and you know the story from there. Did the same with my beer rations but never acquired a taste for beer thank god.

i've tried gum, patches, hypnosis - still smoke - even after a bout with cancer.

The nicotine receptors in your brain need to be turned off and that isn't going to happen until a new drug hits the market soon maybe next year. This new medicine will block the nicotine receptors in your brain and make you think you have enough nicotine or not want any something to that affect. Nicotine has been labeled more addictive than heroin. Once you body gets so used to a certain amount of it, it wants to keep smoking until it receives the same amount or more of it. Som... [ More ]

I quit 20 years ago by switching from menthol which I liked to non-menthol which I didn't like at all. Then I would taper off with fewer per day over about a month to where I would light one, have a couple of puffs the put it out. Then when I wanted to smoke again, would light the same nasty cigarette I'd put out in the equally nasty ash tray. Etc., tapering down on the nicotine addiction until I quit completely. However it took about 5 years before I quit wanting to put something in my mouth. No relapses to date. It can be done if you take one step at a time and be kind to yourself!!... [ More ]

Once I went 90 days and thought that I could just smoke one. You know the rest. It only takes 3 days for nicotine to get out of the body, the rest is a mind thing. I picked up a smoker's prayer at an AA meeting (just visiting) no problem there and it worked for me and I think I went 6 months then. You would say the prayer everytime you wanted to smoke. And the more you did that the stronger you will get. I can't find that prayer anywhere now. But you are right. God bless e... [ More ]
