Wow that's great I had a friend who built a boat with all scrap wood from old salvaged woods it was built like a Chinese junk. Every compartment below deck had some different type exotic wood features. I'd like to see some pictures of you desk when you are done. At one time I had the notion to build a captains style roll top computer desk. (huge desk) But don't have all the necessary tools for the job or a big enough workshop to do the work. However when I hit the big one I might get back on that idea. This desk will have all the best features including hidden compartments. Pigeon holes. Sliding draws, dovetail joints. inlays the works. Only the monitor and keyboard, and mouse will be on the desk surface. The PC cabinet will go inside one of the lower compartments with louvers for allowing air to enter and escape.... [ More ]

that's why i said in one of your blogs a while back. to look for an old boat yard they scrap out old boats and some nice teak maple oak and other hard woods are often found. They would make some great details for your desk or you could make some inlays.
