Bomb Scare Shuts Down Dallas DART Station

Dallas, Texas

Around noon, Dallas Police and DART Police shutdown the Mockingbird DART Station and cordoned off the entire area.

Buses were brought in to get the passengers where they were going. But many were confused about what was going on

It inconvenienced me. I m trying to take my mother to a mother's day lunch today. And I just came from downtown and they didn't say anything. They just told us to get off and catch a shuttle back up here , said passenger Nathaniel Brown.

I was coming north on the northbound coming out of downtown and people getting off the train and everything and police were down there saying get back on the train; no information or nothing , said passenger Dale Rickard.

DART says what led to this was a man who was spotted at a downtown train station getting on and off the trains with a large duffle bag and large box.

Large enough where he felt he needed to pay people to help him load them onboard the trains. That's just not something you tend to see in Dallas DART Spokesman Morgan Lyons said.

DART says the man cooperated and went with police for questioning.

Meanwhile, a bomb squad was brought in but found nothing in the items the man was carrying. Once the area was cleared by police the train service resumed.

DART says they haven t taken any extra security measures since it was revealed Osama Bin Laden wanted to attack American trains. Still, customers should be vigilant.

We're reminded daily that infrastructure targets around the world are targets. That's why we continue to remind customers through repeated messages on board. It s a recorded message on board. If you see suspicious packages or if you see suspicious behavior, we want you to report it Lyons said.

But some, like passenger Andria Delgado, feel it may be too much.

I just think we're on edge and we need to be reasonable about it , she said.

I suspect the guy is no more dangerous than an art student in town to document an event.
