I have a 4 year old son who my wife and I have diagnosed as having an allergy to Sodium Erythorbate. After spending much time at hospitals, clinics, and specialists in Rockford, and Peoria Illinois, our doctors have given up on our son saying only to "keep up the good work", no answers, no suggestions, no help. As far as we and the doctors seem to know our son is "the only one in the world" with this problem. This means they cannot test him because they don't know how to administer a sample of sodium erythorbate to him, and they don't know how much to give him if they did. They put sodium erythorbate or erythorbic acid into foods to retain color but it is NOT a preservative that sodium nitrate and sodium nitrite were used for in bacon and other preserved meats. Canola oil was being put into all kinds of foods including peanut butter. Peanut oil is removed, canola added. The wonder now why so many kids have become allergic to peanut butter ..... hello!!
