I'm familiar with these lock boxes as we were forced to install them on each building on our condo complex. The keys stored in the box are for common areas that are locked (laundry, mechanical room, etc.). There are no homeowner keys in them. The boxes we use are called Knox boxes and are like little safes and the only way to open them is with a key. Nobody has that key except fire and police depts. We've had them for years and haven't had any problems. That's not to say they can't be misused but the homeowner's unit is still secure. If they want to get into a unit they just bust the door in as per usual.... [ More ]

Should a burglar get one lock open (the lockbox), then he/she would have access to ALL the apartments or doors of a business? Great! What a country!

Instead of a citizen getting The Key to the City , how about the city getting a key to your house?

Not quite there yet (unless you live in a 6-or-more-plex), but it's earlier than you think.

Gotta change .. er .. reinterpret a few pesky laws, first.
